About Us

We are Steve and Sam Ahrens and have both been in the cattle business since the 1970s. Back Roads Ranch was developed in 2016 as we together now produce, raise, and sell Simmental and Hereford cattle. We sell bulls and replacement females. We are a USDA certified retail meat vendor and sell USDA inspected beef, piece by piece as well as quarters, halves, and wholes.

We are members of Tennessee Simmental Association, Alabama Simmental Association, Mississippi Simmental Association, American Hereford Association, and the American Simmental Association.

What We Offer

At Back Roads Ranch, we're proud to offer high-quality livestock and beef. Our cattle are raised in wide open spaces, allowing them to forage while we tend to every detail of their lives so they have the best of care. We also offer grain fed beef! There's peace in knowing that you're purchasing some of the best beef available while also supporting local agriculture. Bulls for Sale

Registered, genomically tested, pure-bred Simmental and Hereford bulls for sale every spring. Our bulls qualify for the Tennessee Agriculture Enhancement Program (TAEP).

Females for Sale

While our replacement female sales are not often, we do occasionally offer some for purchase. If you’re interested in purchasing one, please contact us to inquire about availability.

Meat Sales

Quarter, halves, and whole beefs available year round. USDA inspected meat with USDA retail meat certification. Meat available anytime, buy whatever you want, whenever you want.
